[She murmurs the words back as she leans against his chest, wrapping her arms around him to secure herself much more tightly. It's not that she wants to be carried, but she's not really dressed to go running quickly through the bushes and brambles.
The creatures, on the other hand, seeing their trainer safe? Start to move inward around Shinpachi, forming a screen to cover both him and her. No trainer of theirs is going to be hurt while they can help it. And no rescuer either. The plants themselves somewhat abate, though, possibly shocked by the onslaught of Pokemon attacks and swords.
And it's not a moment later before they all burst out into the open, a clearing overlooking the pond, and the path back to the party...]
[ It's only when he's standing there in the open for a moment and realises that in fact no more trees are attacking them that he slowly puts her down, doing it carefully so she doesn't fall down the moment she's on her feet again. ]
There we go.
[ What a way to meet, right.. although Shinpachi seems to be a lot more casual about it now they're out of danger - danger is his daily life back home, this stuff is nothing new to him. ]
You doin' okay? And.. uh..
[ He half-turns to glance at the creatures that moved along with them, blinking at them. They did seem protective of the woman, so maybe they're her.. pets? Something like that? ]
[Erika nods as she smooths out her clothes, tugging out wrinkles and looking over at her Pokemon companions. They all swarm around her, nuzzling and hugging her, crowding them both. Taking their trainer is a big, big no no...]
I'm just fine. And they are too. No harm done. [She flexes her bruised wrist a bit though.]
Nothing permanent anyway. Thank you for the assistance, sir.
No problem, it's what I'm here for. [ Okay, so maybe the Shinsengumi technically isn't charged with protecting this place as much as they were back home with Kyoto, but Shinpachi just feels an instinctive kind of need to protect people all the same. ]
Although this incident didn't seem so harmful to begin with, so maybe you got lucky.. for the better, though.
[ Erika definitely doesn't seem like a person who deserves to get hurt. ]
Even if you already had a little help with you. [ Like creatures firing huge beams.. who even knows, man. Weird future stuff, probably. ]
[Who, Erika? She’s a sleeping sweetie, and nothing bad deserves to happen to her ever ever. Her Pokemon would completely agree, too. She is the nicest nice girl that ever did nice. Except, y’know, when you make her angry. All the same, she smiles and bows politely]
My Pokemon had it well in hand, but assistance is never unappreciated. My name is Erika, and I owe you a debt of gratitude.
Nah. [ He quickly shakes his head. ] You don't owe me anything, really. It's only human nature to help each other when someone's in trouble.
[ Except not really, and he does know there's some real shitty people out there, but that doesn't mean he won't insist that this is just The Right Way Of Doing Things and won't accept anything in return for it. ]
Still-- it's nice to meet you. I'm Shinpachi, Nagakura Shinpachi. Nice to meet you as well, even if the circumstances're a little weird.
Oh, he's got plants bowing at him. What does he even do at that?! He stares at the plants in a sort of confused near-panic for a moment or two before he carefully just tries.. bowing.. back at them..??
Is this what he's supposed to do. Is this the kind of politeness you're supposed to show creature-plants. ]
[ That's a lot of names to remember all at once.. but he'll try his best. Something like that. Even if they have double names. ]
So it's something like animals.. except.. plants. [ He's trying to make sense of this, give him a moment. Since they do walk around, and he's never seen a plant do that. Hell, there's probably not even any of those outside of Japan anywhere. ]

[She bows again, and all of her companions turn and do the same thing. Yep. That's right. Bowing plants.]

Do they have names too?
no subject
They do, of course! [She'll go around and introduce them.]
Venusaur, Bellossom, Exeggutor, Tangrowth, Vileplume, and Whismicott. And their given names are Venus, Belle, Eggsie, Tangles, Plume, and Whimsy.

[ At least it's a creative solution, right. ]
